new - inspiration packs
shades of grey
my favourite ashes of roses and grey
rose & wine
I have been dyeing lots of lace, linens, silks, organza, crochet trims, old curtain tape and ribbons to create little packs of inspiration for embellishment, scrapbooking, applique etc. It has actually taken me quite a while to sort, iron (I know I don't 'do' ironing normally) arrange a complimentary colour palette that I am happy with for each little collection of fragments. I have been working on a range of necklaces, dip dyed and very delicate - sneak preview below.....
faded pinks, browns and greys (yes I know it's those colours again)
Next task is a trip to the post office with a mock up pack to get it weighed. I got a template from the post office which has the appropriate slots to identify the method you can send your parcel depending upon the size and wouldn't you know it - the pack will not fit through the letter slot (you would be hard pushed to get a thick piece of paper through this). So as not to overcharge folks, I am doing a dummy run with said finished pack, oh and then there is sending abroad!!!!!!!
I look forward to your comments.... until next time I will leave you with a little updated picture of our little treasure Thomas...
Good morning, dear Jayne! Your dyed laces and fabrics are just beautiful. I love the subtle shades. The sneak peak of your newest creation looks very lovely already. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece.
ReplyDeleteLittle Thomas seems to be quite happy and content.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Julia
Thank you Julia, such lovely comments. I am getting back to my normal routine as Emily and Thomas are doing really well. I am going to start creating some new work soon. I am still on cloud nine though so finding concentration hard!
DeleteA very good idea Jayne, to be far more proactive; the only prob. I can see is the postage costs. I think folk will love the idea of making their own with your stylist palette of muted colours and interesting bits and bobs.
ReplyDeleteLove the latest creation of yours... Thomas, what a beautiful boy.
LLX
Thanks Linda, as you say being proactive is the way forward. I have been to the post office to get the packs weighed so as not to over or undercharge. I hear you had
Deletea visit from the lovely Viv, you grub looked gorgeous. Would have loved to have been there after a few vinos! Cheers! jx
Your inspirations packs are so beautiful, all - and people will love them, Jayne-
ReplyDeleteI agree that postage have come far too high between countryes- but sending as a letter and nor pack, will help a lot on the costs to keep them down!!
How beautiful the little Thomas is -and happy :-)
Hugs, Dorthe
Thank you so much Dorthe for your kind comments, I do love to create these little packs, I sold a lot whilst fundraising for my degree show. I intend to send them as a letter, I have been and had a pack weighed today so as not to undercharge or overcharge people if they would like to buy a pack. Little Thomas is a joy and so happy and contented. Jx
DeleteGood Luck with the packs Jayne. Love the colour combos!
ReplyDeleteThomas is a cuttie. He's even smiling in his sleep.
Thanks Mavis, going to give it a go, they do take longer to make up than I had remembered from ccad days and selling at Knit and Stitch. Thomas is a cutie as you say and is a very contented baby but maybe that is to do with Emily is so calm. x
DeleteYou must be SO thrilled with Thomas - I hope your daughter is taking motherhood in her stride. She's very lucky to have you near. As for your selling dilemma - have you had a look at Etsy and Folksy? I agonise about selling online too - I'd love a website. I use ebay, but their fees go up all the time and it's not suitable for crafts really. Some people cleverly link a selling site to their blog - the blogger OhSoVintage does this. I have heard that people sell from their Facebook page too.
ReplyDeleteSorry - I'll shut up now!
I know nilly, we have got a smile on our faces all the time. We are going to be those very boring grandparents that twitter on about their grandson all the time! Thanks for your advice, I did research websites but a few of my college friends did not sell well through their sites. I am going to give facebook a try as I have a business page and will link it as you advise. I did notice other people link their blog too. What have we got to lose, if we don't try. Love your friend's shop had a lovely message from her. Jayne
Deletelove your blog and all the lovely textures... posting is fine once you get your prices...I had to redo mine with the new sizes that came in in April, what a lark! still the women in the PO were very ehlpful..so I say go for it. I had the good fortune to send 2 things to Australia through fb and etsy! very exiting!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for such positive comments, I intend to just give it a try, what is the worst that can happen!!! x
DeleteGo for it Jayne, you will do really well, your work is very unique and beautifully crafted.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo of Thomas, look forward to meeting this little man.
Thanks Therese, we will arrange something really soon, look forward to seeing your gorse dyeing x
Deletelovely to find you through my dear friend Viv, beautiful creations, both in textiles and of the tiny little baby variety. Thank you for sharing :) xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your lovely comments Deborah so kind of you.
ReplyDeleteHi Jane, before I say anything I must say I bet Thomas is a lovely cuddle ha ha xxx I love babys..who doesn'txx
ReplyDeleteYour items are lovely and subtle and usefully beautiful, why not give others the opportunity to buy, beware the postage costs they are horrendous over a certain size xx
Good Luck
Hugs Lynn xxxx
Thank you for your advice Lynn, I took a pack to the post office and they will go as a large letter but the postage has had a big effect on a lot of small businesses. I am going to try and sell some packs, we will see how things go. I love your cushions with the ladies heads on, they are beautiful. Jayne x
DeleteThomas is wonderful to cuddle, we are in awe of the fact that we are grandparents. He is a little treasure.
DeleteHello Jayne thank you for your lovely comment today...now you mention it too my knees are a bit achy tonight I will get the peas out ha ha . Thank you as well for your lovely comment about my prints xxxx Have a fab week.
ReplyDeleteHugs Lynn xxx
Oh Thomas...what a treasure ♥ Yes!! Thats great news that you're going for an etsy shop. Your creations are too beautiful not to be available internationally :) It felt daunting for me at the beginning too..and felt like the listing took forever..but I promise it gets easier and quicker the more often you do it! I shall look forward to seeing your new shop. Have a wonderful summer too Jayne xx
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new venture. You seem well organized.
ReplyDeleteThe books are particularly good this year, so much imagination on show.
All lovely Jayne....especially baby Thomas.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you soon
Julie x
Thomas is adorable, congratulations! Where do you sell your dyed items? They look beautiful.
ReplyDeletePat
Thank you Pat, he is adorable! I sell my Inspiration Packs at the moment via facebook. I am opening an etsy shop within the next week. If you see any colour you like just message me and I can make them up for you. Thanks for your interest. Jayne x
